Since 2019, Mark has practiced law at Poovey Law Firm, PLLC, Charlotte N.C. Prior to that, Mark Poovey chaired the Womble Bond Dickinson Antitrust, Regulatory and Government Affairs Practice Group which included the Firm’s Gaming Law practice. Mark has over 30 years experience representing clients in the gaming industry nationally and internationally. At the same time, he has maintained a litigation practice, including gaming issues in state and federal courts across the country, including the U.S. Virgin Islands and the London ICC International Court of Arbitration. Mark's work includes representing clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, state and international gaming licensing agencies and many State Attorneys General. His work for clients in the gaming industry involves lobbying efforts in state legislatures, work with gaming and lottery authorities nationally and internationally and extensive work on Native American gaming issues. Mark's clients count on him for a variety of skill sets which can involve any combination of litigation, public relations, administrative proceedings, criminal investigations and lobbying. Mark graduated cum laude from Wake Forest School of Law in 1980. Mark is admitted to practice in all North Carolina state and federal courts, District of Columbia courts, the Fourth Circuit and Sixth Circuit U.S. Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the bar in North Carolina and the District of Columbia.
