Pedro Cortés is currently Managing Partner of Rato, Ling, Lei & Cortés | Lektou, where he began his career as lawyer in 2003.
Has experience in gaming, corporate and M&A, capital markets, and banking and finance.
He is admitted to practice law in Macau, Portugal, Brazil, China and in East Timor.
Member of IMGL (International Masters of Gaming Law), IAGA (International Association of Gaming Advisors), HKIoD (Hong Kong Institute of Directors) IBA (International Bar Association), CIArb (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators) and HKIA (Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators).
Lecturer of Gaming Law of the Undergraduate Programme, and coordinator of the Advanced Course in Sports Betting, at the Católica | Lisbon School of Law. He is also lecturer of Sports Betting in the Sports Law Post Graduation Course at the Autónoma University in Lisbon. Previously, he was guest lecturer at the Master of Social Science in Global Political Economy (MGPE) Programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Pedro holds an LL.M. in Gaming Law and Regulation from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2021). As part of the programme, he was enrolled in a Legal Externship with the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Attended several programs in gaming matters at the International Centre for Gaming Regulation of UNLV, including Introduction to Indian Gaming Law, Data Privacy & Cyber Security, A 360 View of Compliance in a Global Gaming Organization, Casino Investigations: Security, Law and Policing, Anti-Money Laundering, Creating and Effective Compliance Program, Principles of Sports Wagering, and Internal Controls Program.
Pedro regularly writes for legal and non-legal publications and speaks at conferences on the gaming and other matters.
