Dawn M. Himel is the Director of the Gaming Division of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. She was in private practice prior to joining the Gaming Division in 2010. She has worked in the Licensing and Compliance, Adjudication, and Litigation sections, and has served as the Section Chief of Licensing and Compliance and as the Deputy Director for the Gaming Division. Born and raised in Central Florida, Ms. Himel earned a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies with minors in Marketing and Business from the University of Central Florida. She earned her Juris Doctor and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert School of Law at Louisiana State University. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Foundation, International Masters of Gaming Law, International Association of Gaming Advisors, North American Gaming Regulators Association, Sport Betting Regulators Association, and iGB Executive. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Sports Betting Regulators Association. She is the recipient of the 2024 Excellence in Gaming Award for Regulatory Individual Demonstrating Excellence in Gaming Regulatory or Enforcement Environment and was named as “5 Who Shine” by Global Gaming Business for their 2024 Annual Focus on Women in Gaming.
