Presidents Message 06.17

June 6, 2017

The IMGL spring conference was held in May in Miami — and was another terrific and successful conference. Highlights included a conference-opening keynote presentation by Jim Allen — Chairman, President, and CEO of Seminole Hard Rock Entertainment, Inc. Among other topics, Allen talked about Hard Rock’s decision to invest in the acquisition, remodeling, and rebranding of the Trump Taj Mahal under the Hard Rock banner. James Maida of GLI, President and CEO of Gaming Laboratories International was the luncheon speaker on the first day of the conference and discussed the impact of rapidly changing technology on gaming.

Thanks to all the speakers and moderators for making this another outstanding conference. I also want to thank Florida member Marc Dunbar for not only co-chairing the conference but also for arranging a post-conference day at the races at Gulfstream Park. The fifth race of the day was an IMGL race and the members who attended had their pictures taken with the winning jockey.

Over the weekend of June 9 – 11th, The IMGL partnered with Spectrum Gaming in providing two Masterclass sessions at the recent National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (“ NCLGS”) summer meeting in Denver, Colorado.

Plans are continuing for the IMGL fall conference which will be held on September 10-12, 2017, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Nominations for Regulators of the year for Europe, North America and Latina and South America are now being accepted. The chairs for the committees are: Connie Jones, North America; Justin Franssen, Europe; Ernest Mathews IV, Central and South America; Jamie Nettleton, Asia/Australasia; and Kevin Quigley, Indian Country.

Finally, mark your calendars for the IMGL reception at G2E which will take place at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas on October 3, 2017.

Enjoy your summer and see you in Denmark.

Michael
