Gavel to Gavel: Influence at Trump’s White House

President-elect Donald Trump has wasted no time in naming nominees for various Cabinet positions.
Oklahoma’s 39 federally recognized tribal governments are watching those nominations carefully. The federal government has an outsized influence on tribes. Congress exercises plenary power to pass laws affecting all aspects of tribal life, land and resources. Similarly, the Supreme Court hears an outsized number of Native American-related cases and recently, the court has been evenly split on important tribal sovereignty issues.
