In February 2019, Governor Doug Ducey appointed Ted Vogt to serve as director of the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG). Mr. Vogt leads a staff of more than 100 professionals charged with regulating tribal gaming, pari-mutuel racing and wagering, and boxing and mixed martial arts in the State of Arizona. ADG also runs the Division of Problem Gambling (DPG), which provides and supports prevention, education and treatment for problem gambling. The legislature established ADG in 1995, after recognizing the growth of Indian gaming in the State and the need for an independent regulatory body with gaming expertise. Today, there are 24 tribal casinos operating throughout Arizona. In 2015, ADG’s responsibilities expanded to include regulation and oversight of statewide pari-mutuel wagering, racing and boxing and mixed martial arts events, when the legislature consolidated the Arizona Department of Racing under ADG. Director Vogt holds a B.A. in History from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Arizona’s Rogers College of Law. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
