Dan Russell is special counsel in Jones Walker LLP’s Business and Commercial Transactions Practice Group. Mr. Russell’s practice focuses on civil and administrative litigation, gaming, and governmental law.

Mr. Russell represents major casino companies, manufacturers, and suppliers regarding all matters related to the development, financing, licensing, and operation of gaming and resort facilities. Mr. Russell’s clients include many of the largest gaming operators and gaming equipment manufacturers and suppliers in the world. He regularly serves on panels and speaks at national and international gaming conferences.

Before rejoining Jones Walker, Mr. Russell most recently served as General Counsel of the Florida Lottery where he managed the legal affairs of the Lottery's .5 billion operation including procurements, bid protests, state and federal litigation, and other legal matters for the Lottery. During his tenure with the Florida Lottery, Mr. Russell also spearheaded the creation of the Retailer Integrity Program.

Mr. Russell is also the former General Counsel for Florida's premier thoroughbred track and casino, Gulfstream Park. As the facility’s General Counsel, he was responsible for all legal, compliance, regulatory, and risk management at the 150-acre facility, which included a horse race track, two casinos, a poker room, and an outdoor shopping mall.

Mr. Russell is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Law and the University of Florida College of Journalism.
